This tab contains settings related to PDF file security to prevent unauthorized use or modification of the report. By default, the software encrypts PDFs so that clients cannot alter the report with software of their own. However, it is sometimes necessary to modify a report once it’s been printed, for instance, to combine a report with a photo log. In these cases you can turn off the encryption.
The following settings only apply if the Encrypt PDF File option is selected.
Encrypt PDF File
The default is to enable PDF file encryption to prevent the PDF document from being able to be modified. Enabling PDF file encryption, allows certain features to be locked out.
Owner Password
This password is required to be able to edit a PDF document.
User Password
This is the password used to encrypt the file. If used, the user will have to enter a password to be able to view the PDF file.
Allow the PDF file to be printed
If selected, the user can print the report; otherwise, the user cannot print the report.
Allow text to be copied from the PDF file
If selected, text can be copied from the report and used elsewhere (using the standard copy/paste functions); otherwise, text cannot be copied.
Allow the PDF file to be changed
If enabled, the report can be modified.
Encryption Strength
•40 bit encryption (default) - Low encryption strength, but is compatible with most readers.
•128 bit encryption - High encryption strength, but is only compatible with newer readers, such as Adobe Acrobat 5.x and higher.
