A text placeholder, by default, is a series of 4 X’s in a row (“XXXX”) that stand-in for some other text. The placeholder should be replaced by a number, word, sentence or paragraph, depending of the context surrounding the place holder. If the text placeholder audit option is enabled, the Report Audit will flag any text placeholders that have not been replaced. The following illustrates one example of its usage:

In this example above, we have 3 placeholders for dollar amounts of each of the bulleted items and also one to specify the ending year of the long-term range. Since the dollar amounts are likely to vary from report to report, placeholders are used to handle the viability. Simply highlight the placeholder and type the text you want.
