Mobile Companion App

WhisperReporter Mobile is the companion app to WhisperReporterAscent, and is available for Android and iOS devices. This is preliminary documentation while Mobile is under beta testing.

A few notes on mobile expectations as of this writing:

•The mobile companion app is designed to be a data collection companion app for Ascent, not as a full mobile version of Ascent.

•The mobile companion app is currently in the beta testing stage on both Android and iOS. It is not yet available in their respective app stores, and is distributed for Android using adhoc deployment (aka side-loading), and for iOS using TestFlight. Release has been significantly delayed due to Android and iOS issues regarding the virtual keyboard, as well as voice input on iOS 17+.

•Features supported include: Photos, Picklists, Enhanced Picklists, RapidRemarks, Cloakable text and dictation. Note: Inline dictation on iOS 17+ is not currently supported due to a change in iOS that we are waiting a fix on (it causes all preceding text to be backspace deleted as you dictate). For now on iOS, a two finger tap will bring up a separate edit area to dictate into, and subsequently inserted at the caret location when closed.

•Video not yet supported (may be supported later).

•If the option to scale images is selected, Images are re-sized down to a thumbnail display size due to the limited real estate on some mobile devices. Any previously existing images will be re-sized back to their original display width when restored back on Ascent, and any newly added images added on mobile will be re-sized to the default display width as configured in Ascent (and re-sized to fit a table cell if so configured in Ascent)
